Royole began production of flexible OLED

Congratulation to Royole for its successful production of fully-flexible display in Royole Shenzhen fab, on June 6, 2018. This accomplishment was achieved after six years of endeavor and, the total investment is 6 billion RMB. Compared to those traditional panel makers who used similar technology to Korean surface display technology, Royole used independently developed process and equipment, that the fab can easily upgrade to more than 10 billion OEM production lines.

Bill Liu is the founder and CEO of Royole. He was one of the 35 Innovators Under 35, listed by MIT Technology Review in 2017. Liu received degrees from Tsinghua and Stanford. In 2012, he founded a startup called Royole, hope to do something Samsung, LG, and Lenovo can’t: manufacture affordable, flexible electronics that can be bent, folded, or rolled up into a tube. And now, he did it. His flexible components could change the way people use electronics.

However, some people are skeptical about the technology and the manufacturing capability. Now, it is close to the final conclusion if Royole is the truly innovative and successful flexible OLED company, since after the formal production in its fab, we should see some electronics, such as smart phones, using Royole flexible OELD screens soon. If it is not true soon, then the people may have their ideas why they are skeptical about the company.

Investors of Royole include many renowned VC firms and banks, including IDG and more.
